Citizens and businesses of Overland Park,

Today, Overland Park city leaders have initiated a planning process to develop Overland Park’s first Comprehensive Parks System Master Plan. Overland Park has multiple parks and recreation facilities, miles of trails, with well-known signature sites such as the Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead and Matt Ross Community Center.

MIG, Portland, Ore., is leading a team that has been retained by the city to provide Overland Park its first Comprehensive Park Master Plan. The process will include inventorying and evaluating current parks, recreation facilities and bike/hike trails to determine how to meet future needs.

This process seeks significant input from residents through community workshops, an online questionnaire, citizens’ survey, focus group meetings with interested parties and stakeholder meetings.

You are invited to participate by offering your thoughts on parks, recreation services and greenways through a 10-15 minute online questionnaire. Your information will be incorporated into development of an Overland Park Master Plan that spans the next 10 to 20 years.  Additional opportunities to participate will be provided in the near future.

Please pass this email on to the residents of your homes association and other interested Overland Park park users.  For more information, contact Keith Gooch at 913-895-6181 or Keith.Gooch@opkansas.org or visit the Park Master Plan web site at http://www.opkansas.org/Things-to-See-And-Do/Parks-Master-Plan.

Sincerely,
Keith Gooch
