The Kansas City Jets JV team entered the JV Tournament as the number 2 seed, but when the weekend was over, they walked out as Tournament Champions.  The team’s quest for the championship began on Friday with a game against the 7th seed Dubuque Devils. The Jets fell down 1-0 early in the 2nd period, but later in the period the Jets got the tying goal from Luc Denzin with an assist from Michael Panella.  Jets broke the tie at the 6:08 into the 3rd period by a goal from Tom McManus with assist from Tanner Swenson and Luc Denzin.  The Jets controlled the 3rd period and got 2 more goals in the period one from Luc Denzin, with an assist from Peter Denzin and the other from Micheal Panella with an assist from Tanner Swenson.  Erik Schuette stopped 18 shots to help the Jets win 4-1.

In the Semi-Final game on Saturday the Jets faced Sioux City Metro, who had upset Waterloo in the quarterfinals on Friday.  The Jets had beaten Sioux City 3 times this season but were expecting a tough game.  The Jets got on the board in 1:26 seconds into the 1st period with a goal from Connor Moore with an assist from Luc and Peter Denzin, this would be the only goal the Jets would need as they controlled play throughout the game.  Erik Schuette stopped all 12 shots he faced and Jets got additional goals from Peter Denzin with assist from Luc Denzin and Michael Panella, Zach Curry with an assist from Anthony Hummel and Tanner Swenson, and from Luc Denzin with an assist from Christian Cardin for a 4-0 win.

On Sunday, in the Championship Game, the Jets played the Omaha Jr. Lancer a team who battled the Jets for the Western Division Title and a team the Jets had played 6 teams during the year.  Omaha reached the title game by upsetting the #1 Seed Des Moines Capitals.  Even though the Jets had a 4-1-1 record against the Lancers, Omaha was playing well and the Jets expected a battle.  However that was not the case.  The Jets controlled the game from the 1st faceoff and got their 1st goal at the 5:46 mark of the 1st period from Luc Denzin, with an assist from Peter Denzin and Jackson Graham and never looked back.  The Jets got another goal in the 1st peried and they added 4 goals in the 2nd period and 2 more in the 3rd.  The other 5 goals were scored by Wesley Weissend, 3 from Anthony Hummel and 1 from Peter Denzin.  Erik Schuette stopped 11 of 12 shots he faced, losing the shut out with 36 seconds to go in the game.  The Jets were JV Champions for the second time in the program history, by winning their 1st one in 2011.

Jets Championship was a great team effort and the Jets only gave up 2 goals during the whole tournament.  Not only was Erik Schuette solid in the net, but the Jets D was outstanding lead by Wesley Weissend and Tom McManus.

Members of the JV team that played in the tournament were, Christian Cardin, Zach Curry, Peter Denzin, Luc Denzin, Gus Eulitt, Cooper Fankhauser, Jackson Graham, Tristin Hillebert, Anthony Hummell, Tom McManus, Connor Moore, Michael Panella, Erik Schuette, Josiah Smith, Tanner Swenson, Tyler Terrono, Drake Unger, and Wesley Weissend.
