The KC Jets Midget AA Varsity and JV Teams both opened the season with 2 victories over Cedar Rapids RoughRiders.

On Saturday, the Varsity opened the season with a 4-3 Shootout Win.  The game ended in a 3-3 tie with Sam Scibona scoring the first goal that was assisted by Alex Blow and Logan Lopicka.  Nick Hart scored the second goal with assist coming from Jake Steiner and Erik Porzelt.  The Jets third goal was scored by Connor Smith with an assist from Sebastian Bohn that came with 1:47 left in the game that appeared to be the game winner.  However Cedar Rapids scored with 19 sec left in the game to force overtime.  After a 5 minute sudden death overtime period the game was still knotted at 3-3.  Unlike in the past, when the game would have ended in tie, the Varsity level has decided to implement a 3 Man Shootout to decide the winner.  In the shootout Logan Lopicka scored the Jets first goal to tie the shootout at 1 goal each, after Cedar Rapid third shooter missed, Sam Scibona scored to give the Jets their first victory of the season.

On Sunday, the Varsity again won a 4-3 game, this one also going to overtime.  The game ended in a 3-3 tie with Logan Lopick scoring the first goal that was assisted by Jeffery Anderson and Michael Kuhn.  Tristyn Sabina scored the Jets second goal with assist coming from Alex Blow and Erik Porzelt.  Like Saturdays game, a goal was scored in the last minute to force overtime, however this time it was the Jets, when Alex Blow with assist from Sam Scibona tied the game with 48 seconds to play.  In overtime the Jets were able to pullout the victory when at the 2:17 mark Tristyn Sabina found Alex Blow in front of the net for the game winning goal.

On Saturday, the JV opened the season with a 3-2 win. Yale Van Dyne scored the first two goals of the season with the first coming from an assist from Logan Adkins and the second from Tyler Torrono.  The Jets third goal came when Tanner Todd received a pass from Jon Moore to score with 1:06 left in the game to break a 2-2 tie and provided the winning goal.

On Sunday, the JV completed the sweep with a 1-0 victory.  Jackson Small with assist from Colin Jones and James McManus scored the only goal the game when he found the back of the net with 3:50 to play in the first period.  The Jet dominated the play but could not score any more goals.  Nick Steiner preserved the 1-0 victory by recording his first shutout of the season.

The Jets travel to Waterloo this weekend to play the Waterloo Warriors whose Varsity opened the season at 3-0 and their JV went 2-0-1.
