Kansas City Stars Hockey

KC Stars Squirt Select coached by Mike Przybylski and Brad McManus won the Omaha Joust Squirt Select C Division Tournament this past weekend. The tournament field consisted of 16 teams from as far away as Cheyenne.  The first game of the weekend the Stars beat Sioux City Green 3-2. The second game was against Sioux Falls and they won 6-2. The Semifinals paired them against Fremont and the team started the game slow with Fremont jumping out to a 3-0 lead early in the game, but the Stars fought back and scored 8 unanswered goals to win 8-3. The championship game brought a rematch of the Midwest Hockey League championship game against a really good Lincoln team. The KC Stars came back from 3-1 and 4-2 deficits to win 5-4 in another exciting overtime championship victory for the team.

This was a very successful season for the Stars Squirt Select team with an overall record of 12-2-1 against select level teams including a Midwest Hockey League championship and the Omaha Joust championship.  The team really came together, worked hard in practice and it showed with the success they had in the games.

Throughout the season the coaches instilled these rules that also can be used to teach life lessons:

1) Play your position - We all need to learn how to be part of a team and play our positions
2) Attack the Puck - Live life with intensity chasing your dreams
3) Hustle - You can make things happen
4) No Coasting - Don't be lazy
5) Penalties - If someone punches you they go... If you punch back you both go…

The players, coaches, and parents are very proud of their great season! Way to go, Stars!
